September 14, 2026: 

Looking Ahead: Expanding Specialized Support & Preparing for TEFA Next Year

When Lake Creek Academy first opened its doors, we made a conscious decision not to accept Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) funds for baseline private school tuition. Our priority was—and remains—protecting the independence of our core academic model, maintaining our Cognia accreditation standards, and preserving the unique micro-school culture we have built together.

That commitment remains firm: Base academic tuition at Lake Creek Academy will continue to operate independently.

However, as our community has grown, so has the depth of what we provide every single day.

A substantial majority of our students are twice-exceptional (2e), have ADHD, dyslexia, sensory processing differences, or require advanced gifted and talented (GT) pacing. They thrive in our 10-student cohorts precisely because our faculty meets them where they are.

Providing authentic, high-impact individualized support requires dedicated resources. Master’s-level special education case management, behavioral and executive functioning systems, tactile STEM modifications, and occasional 1:1 facilitation require specialized hours that extend far beyond what standard baseline tuition dollars can cover.

We faced an important choice: either raise universal tuition across the board—which risks pricing out the families who need us most—or find a thoughtful, sustainable pathway to fund specialized services directly.

To bridge this gap, we have established the Lake Creek Academy Center for Cognitive & Learning Development as a dedicated clinical and specialized services arm.

We are actively completing the state provider application process so the Center can accept TEFA funds starting next school year. Through this structure, families will be able to direct their state education savings account funds specifically toward qualified specialized add-on services, including:

• Specialized Education & Accommodations (SpEd): Diagnostic case management, individualized accommodation roadmaps, and classroom support.

• Executive Function & Cognitive Systems: Daily workflow architecture, task initiation structures, and visual scheduling systems tailored for ADHD and processing variations.

• Gifted & Talented (GT) / Twice-Exceptional (2e) Pacing: Advanced project differentiation and adapted hands-on STEM lab investigations for accelerated kinetic and spatial thinkers.

• Intensive 1:1 Support: Dedicated paraprofessional facilitation and behavioral plans for students requiring focused individual assistance.

Base academic tuition will remain a separate, direct agreement with Lake Creek Academy. By positioning the Center to accept TEFA funds for specialized add-ons, families who need intensive resources can access them without absorbing significant out-of-pocket expenses, while our core day school remains affordable and independent.

What Families Should Do Now to Prepare

While our provider credentialing is finalized for next year, the most important step families can take right now is getting their documentation and state applications in order:

1. Plan to Apply for Your TEFA Account: State application and enrollment windows open well in advance of the academic year. We strongly encourage all eligible families to participate in the state application cycle as soon as registration opens.

2. Gather Existing Paperwork: Qualification for weighted specialized funding tiers typically requires documentation—such as an active or recent 504 plan, public school IEP, or a formal diagnostic evaluation (e.g., ADHD, dyslexia, sensory processing differences, or ASD). Having current paperwork ready ensures a smooth approval process.

Preparing for TEFA participation through the Center gives our clinical and specialized faculty the tools they need to serve your children with the depth, care, and excellence they deserve.

January 1, 2026:

We have one spot remaining in our 11th-12th grade classes for 2026-2027 (10th-12th grade for mid-year transfers).  

We are still open for mid-year transfers for K-9 this school year and K-10 enrollment for August 2026.

We anticipate waitlisting new applicants by July 1 for various grade levels, so secure your spot today by booking a tour and a shadow day.

August 11, 2025:

Today is the first day of the 2025-2026 School Year, which means that the Early Enrollment Discount for tuition has officially ended.  Annual tuition is back to $15,000 for all incoming students.

March 12, 2025:

Have an incoming Kindergartener?  Not sure what they need to know when school starts in August?  Come to our Kindergarten Readiness Meeting on April 26 from 2:00-3:00pm.

Join Lake Creek Academy as we offer a free parent workshop where we will give parents some practical tips and advice from our 13-year veteran kindergarten teacher. This workshop will go over activities and other great age appropriate ways to ensure your child is ready for Kindergarten.

Lake Creek Academy will be offering both a Transitional and Traditional Kindergarten in the Fall of 2025.
